Alberson lands Top 5 finish in MLRA finale at Bullring at RICo Fairgrounds
Friday night saw Garrett Alberson kick off the Fourth of July weekend with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) for the 12th annual Slocum 50. Drawing 35 cars, Garrett came two spots short of a transfer position in his heat with a sixth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Notching a second place finish behind Tim Manville, Alberson locked into the 20th-starting position for the $10,555-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Garrett passed 11 cars in the 50-lapper to place ninth.
The following night at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) for the Independence Day Shootout, Alberson laid down the sixth fastest time overall in qualifying before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the third-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Garrett was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on the seventh lap after making hard contact with the wall. (Todd Healy photo)
On Sunday afternoon at the Bullring at RICo Fairgrounds (East Moline, Ill.), Garrett secured his spot into the main event with a second place finish in his heat behind Jonathan Brauns. With $6,000 on the line, Alberson jumped up one spot in the 44-lapper to place fifth behind Payton Looney, Justin Duty, Jeremiah Hurst, and Tony Toste.
Garrett sits in fifth in the latest Lucas Oil MLRA point standings.
