Sunoco Race Fuels Named "Official Fuel" Of Lucas Oil MLRA

Wheatland, Missouri (May 20, 2021) - Lucas Oil MLRA officials are excited to announce a new two-year deal has been inked with 405 Performance Products, a master distributor for Sunoco Race Fuels. This new agreement will solidify Sunoco’s place with the series as the “Official Fuel” of the Lucas Oil MLRA Series through the 2022 racing season.

Sunoco has long been the title sponsor for the MLRA’s Rookie of the Year program, a tradition that will continue under the renewed partnership. Past winners of the coveted year-long award include 2020 Show-Me 100 Winner Payton Looney, defending MLRA Series Champion Jeremiah Hurst, Logan Martin, and Rodney Sanders.

Drivers in the MLRA Sunoco Rookie program will continue to compete for a $2,500 top prize in addition to (6) drums of Sunoco Race Fuel. Second place will receive $1,000 while the third place rookie driver will walk away with $500 at the end of the 2021 race season.

What they have done for our Rookie Program over the years has been very important to not only the drivers competing for the award, but also for the continued growth of our series. “I managed the Sunoco racing fuel program for Simons/Maxum/Pilot Thomas for the last 28 years and have been with the MLRA since the early 90’s. I love the company, the people and their support of all forms of racing,” concluded Merrill.

After six events, Mason Oberkramer of Broseley, MO leads the Rookie contingent in what is shaping up to be yet another back and forth battle through the course of the season. Jake Timm sits in second, only 50 markers back, while Justin Reed who has collected three Rookie of the Race Awards thus far maintains the third position.

The Lucas Oil MLRA will return to action on May 27-29th at the Lucas Oil Speedway in the series crown jewel event of the year, the 29th Annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100, Presented by Three big nights of action will be on tap featuring complete $6,000 to win qualifying features on Thursday and Friday night, leading up to Saturday nights $30,000 to win finale.
