Wheatland, MO (May 28, 2021) – Mother nature may have delayed night # 1 of the 29th Annual Show-Me 100, but for Tim McCreadie the 24-hour wait was worth it. The Watertown, New York driver wired the field to collect top honors in the “Cowboy Classic” portion of the crown jewel weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

A total of 58 drivers checked in to do battle in the co-sanctioned event featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil MLRA after heavy rains on Thursday forced the postponement of the annual kick-off event. The Cowboy Classic honors the late Allen “Cowboy” Chancellor who was the former owner and promotor of the Lucas Oil MLRA Series.

Brandon Sheppard started off his night strong by snagging the Illini Racing Supply Fast Time Award with his 15.678 second lap. Sheppard followed that up with a heat race win that placed him on the DirtonDirt.com Pole for the start of the 45 lap main event alongside of Scott Crigler.

At the drop of the green flag McCreadie wasted no time in flexing his muscle showing the field that he would have the car to beat. Sheppard battle side-by-side on the initial circuit with McCreadie who started on the inside of row #2, but T-Mac had the lead by half a car length when the duo crossed the line to complete lap number one. McCreadie didn’t have much time to distance himself from the field before the events one and only StopTech Brakes caution waved on lap seven as Earl Pearson Jr. slow exiting turn number four.

The field restarted with McCreadie showing the way over Sheppard and Bobby Pierce. The “Smooth Operator” who started in fifth, found his way into the runner-up spot and began to chase down the race leader towards the midpoint of the main event. The leaders would encounter their first dose of lapped traffic with 23 laps remaining, and it appeared that may have been the break that Pierce needed to overtake McCreadie for the win.

However, McCreadie used the lapped traffic to his advantage, and was able to pull away from Pierce who would end up surrender the second spot to a hard charging Hudson O’Neal with just 14 laps to go. McCreadie would go on to take his Longhorn Chassis to victory lane, collecting the $6,000 pay day by 1.225 seconds over O’Neal. Pierce completed the podium run in third, while Sheppard and Josh Richards rounded out the top five.

The win marks McCreadie's third all time under the MLRA banner and 24th all time with the LOLMDS. Following the main event McCreadie commented on the win in saying, “You are always worried about being boxed in at this place when you are going through traffic. When you see Pierce and Hudson on the board, those two don’t take laps off. I knew the best shot I had was to not wait around in traffic. I got beat a month ago by JD by being a little too cautious at the end of the race. I wasn’t going to let that happen again. This is an amazing weekend out here for Memorial Day and to have our car all dressed up by being Patriotic. If you see anybody from the military give them a thanks.”

“The car felt pretty good out there this evening," stated O'Neal following his runner up finish. "By the time I got to second everybody was pretty much spread out. Not that I was any faster than Timmy, but I would have liked a chance to clear out the lap traffic and take a shot on him at the end. It took me about 15 laps to really get going.”

Up Next: Action continues on Friday night with round # 2 as the “Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson” takes center stage at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks. A second full show consisting of time trials, heats, B-mains, and a $6,000 to win “A” Main will be on tap serving as a final chance for drivers to score points to establish the line-up for Saturday nights $30,000 to win Show-Me 100 presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com
