Wheatland, Missouri (June 22, 2020) - After a two-month delay, the Lucas Oil MLRA is back on track and proving to yet again be one of the top regional touring series in the country. Following an opening weekend swing that resulted in a trio of different winners, the cars and stars jump back into action for a critical  four-day swing starting this Wednesday night.

For the first time this season, the MLRA will make its way to the Lucas Oil Speedway for a rare Wednesday night event on June 24th, billed as the 1st Annual "Mid-Week Mayhem". Track and series officials are excited for the MLRA's 2020 season debut at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks, something that hasn't come easy thus far. To date, the MLRA and Lucas Oil Speedway had been forced to cancel or postpone a total of seven planned series events at the Wheatland, Missouri facility as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Night number two will find teams converging at the recently revived Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oktaha, OK on Thursday night June 25th. This top notch high-banked 3/8-mile facility sat idle since the 2016 season, before returning to action this spring. Thursday nights $3,000 to win main event will be under the direction of Joe Duvall's Club 91 Promotions.

Duvall, who is also a part of the tracks advisory council, is excited to see the facility come back to life and expects great racing action when the MLRA returns for the first time since 2014. Duvall commented, "They have been working real hard at it since they have been back over there, trying to get it back to where it was a multi grooved deal where there was a bottom and a top. It always traditionally had two lanes and from what I've seen it looks like it's going to get back to that point and it will be good racing."

Series champion Will Vaught and Billy Moyer both notched Outlaw Motor Speedway wins in 2014, while the all-time MLRA wins leader Terry Phillips, holds wins from 05' & 06'. "I remember when the MLRA used to show up there and it was a Terry Phillips and Jeremy Payne show. But now a lot has changed and there are a lot of new faces. It will be real interesting to see if Terry still has his old back of tricks from that place and can finish up front," concluded Duvall.

Just forty-five minutes up the road on the outskirts of Pryor Creek, OK lies the Salina Highbanks Speedway, the home to the 7th Annual ARMI "Freedom Classic". Teams will compete on Friday night June 26th for $3,000 to win before chasing after Saturday nights $5,000 to win weekend finale.

Mitch McGrath snagged the fast time award one year ago at the Highbanks, and is excited to be making the long haul yet again in pursuit of the elusive MLRA win. "It was a real good feeling," noted McGrath on his pole award. "We had our smallest motor in and just held it wide open all the way around."

McGrath was the MLRA championship runner-up one year ago, and will be looking to build on a strong fifth place run at West Liberty. The driver of the Diamond Jim's Auto Sales, Sorce Services, Matco Tools, & Behling Racing Equipment sponsored XR-1 Rocket Chassis will have his work cut out for him when the team departs their Waukesha, WI shop, setting out on their longest MLRA trip of the season.

"It's going to be a long week. We go go-kart racing with my son Tucker on Tuesday night and then we'll jump in the truck around ten and drive part way and the rest of the way to Wheatland on Wednesday morning." McGrath continued, "It's going to be hot but my crew is really good and they stick it out and endure it with me."

With another strong field of cars expected this week, McGrath is ready to take on the Midwest top teams. "I hope a lot of these guys stick around because you just feel better at the end of the year if you can run well with them in a full field. I know last year we dwindled a little bit on car counts and we still had a good finish at the end of the season, but it will just be that much better to say that we beat some stiff competition."
